”JOURNEY WITHIN / HOUT BAY 2025”

Hout Bay, Cape Town is a place full of lush greenery and has access to many diverse hiking trails - which are easily accessible via small pathways, leading you up into Table Mountain.

The various shades of greens which you encounter along the walk and different textures of the plants along the way is the source of my inspiration for this piece. Whilst walking along one of these trails in late 2024 with my partner, I was reminded how we shall never encounter these colours, forged by that particular days sunshine, breeze and sounds again. Yes, we may walk the same path on anther beautiful day - but never again will the view be 100% exactly the same.

And so it is with each day of our lives - no day or encounter with people that day will ever be identical. This was my inspiration for this piece.

My intention was to capture the lushness, greenery, vibrancy and movement of the plants as a result of the breeze within my technique. Affording viewers a glimpse into that moment and a reminder to cherish every special moment - hence a walk resulted into - “A Journey Within”
